Spirit AND Truth….Anchored AND Free!
Scripture tells us that wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. That means the presence of God’s Spirit in our lives makes us free. But free to do what? Free to be what? Without the answers to those questions our unbridled freedom is as destructive as not being free at all. Having no fixed point of absolute right and wrong leads to us misusing the freedom we’ve been afforded and living a life that neither glorifies God nor benefits us. Thus the need for truth.
The truth of God’s word…of God’s character and nature…provides parameters that not only serve as safeguards, but ultimately frees us to be who God created us to be and do what He’s called us to do. Imagine boarding a train from Charleston to New York. The tracks may initially appear to be restrictive. But in reality, the tracks are what allows the train to stay on course and reach its destination. While we might think breaking away from the tracks would make us free, it would actually cause us to be subject to the terrain around us and compromise our ability to live out our purpose.
The truth of God anchors us. The Spirit of God frees us. Spirit & Truth…Anchored and Free!
